Spotlight on Pet Wellness Centre
Pet Wellness Centre, more than just a vet!
Pet Wellness Centre is a long-standing Silver Sponsor of Paws at the Park. Based in Burleigh on the Gold Coast, they believe that pets make people better people and better people make better communities! They believe that they can have a positive impact on pets, people and communities through what they do and strive to be more than just a vet.
What's one thing people should know about Pet Wellness Centre?
We’re more than just a vet! While you can count on us for all of your pet’s standard veterinary needs such as preventative care, dental health, surgery and diagnostics, we also offer physiotherapy, acupuncture and titer testing!
What's your favourite part of working in the pet industry?
I’m absolutely fascinated by the strength and the impact of the pet-human bond and I just love seeing how much pets improve the lives of people, families and our whole community.
Do you have a stand out memory from any of our dog markets you’ve attended?
Definitely the first year we had the ball pit was a standout. Hugo the Frenchie just got right in there and showed the other doggos how it was done. He just couldn’t decide which ball to try to pick up next! The ball pit isn’t for every dog, that’s for sure, but for those who enjoy it, it’s just infectious fun! We‘ve also had some amazing moments with big dogs in our little doggie pools. Sometimes they’re hard to get out!
Tell us a little bit about your business - why did you start and what do you offer?
My little dog Brain was the inspiration for Pet Wellness Centre. He meant the world to me and I wanted to create a vet clinic that would provide the kind of care that I wanted for him as his owner. I wanted to be able to proactively manage his wellness, not just treat him when he was sick. So we built Pet Wellness Centre for Brain. Sadly, he passed away from his cancer one year after the Centre was built but his legacy lives on. Every day we strive to create a Centre that Brain would be proud of and that I would choose as Brain’s mum. We couldn’t save him, but countless other precious pet lives will be saved, extended and enhanced in his name.
When did you attend your first Paws at the Park and why did you decide to have a stall?
Our first Paws at the Park was 2017! It sounded like an awesome community event for pet lovers so we just wanted to be part of the fun!
You've been a regular sponsor at our Mudgeeraba dog markets - why does Pet Wellness Centre support this community event?
Paws at the Park is just such a perfect alignment with our Mission which is Pet Wellness, Human Wellness, Community Wellness! Seeing all the pet people together at the event sharing, learning and all aiming to improve the lives of their pets just warms our hearts. It’s why we exist. We just can’t get enough of it
What do you love about Paws at the Park?
We love the focus on sharing knowledge, rather than just assembling a market of pet products. The stage activities are all really fun and informative and help pet owners to understand how they can improve the lives of their little mates.
The atmosphere is just so wonderful. Gathering like minded people is so uplifting and we love the chance to catch up with all our pet industry friends as well as our clients and other local pet lovers.
What should people come and chat to you about at Paws at the Park?
ANYTHING! We love to talk about all aspects of pet health and pet care but we’ll be equally happy if you just bring us your doggos for a cuddle We’re giving away a free 12 month Pet Wellness Plan on the day so come and have a go at our frisbee challenge to win your entry!
Last, (but certainly not least!), tell us about your own doggos!
I have two dogs that I’ve adopted by meeting them at work, naturally! Harry Mataz (aka HazMat) is a cheeky little Boston Terrier who survived a horrific accident not long after birth and has managed to overcome some debilitating growth issues in his back legs to be the cheekiest, craziest little buddy ever! Harry really utilises all the services at Pet Wellness Centre including Acupuncture, Physio and every natural mobility product known to man!
His little sister Vesta is a Swedish Vallhund, she was a singleton pup who was born with swimmers legs but now has no problems at all thanks mostly to an incredibly knowledgeable and attentive breeder. She’s a smooshy, squeaky sass queen and we love her to bits.
